26. Community Archives - Revenue Ledger (1589-1644 - reg.)

Cowhide ledger with leaves numbered only on recto, of which leaves 56-61 are not numbered, presumably incomplete (in the incipit 200 leaves are declared); on the title-leaf there is the printed coat of arms of the community depicting the grape vine in a scroll inscribed in a circle with the words VIGNOLA COM. It is the register in which is entered the community revenue deriving from the rent of land at Guardate, Risari and Berlete and from the sale of woods. In the Register where are kept the accounts of the money that the stewards spend... (reg. 25) among the outlay of the first six months of 1589, on January 8, the following item appears "it is a ledger with 200 leaves to enter the revenue of the community, new ledger one lira 3 soldi" (86v.) Found in an antique shop, the ledger was returned to the Archives thanks to Dr. Paolo Vaccari who after purchasing it donated it to the Municipality.
Incipit: "MDLXXXVIII In praise and glory of the eternal almighty God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit [...]. This book called the revenue ledger of the Community of Vignola, formed by 200 megiana paper leaves covered with white vellum with three white straps for binding, and one for locking, marked with the sign of the holy cross in which must be diligently entered all the revenue of this Community of the day, month and year as appropriate, by the hand of its compilers who will be drawn by lot from year to year by the its men of government, starting from 17th March 1589"

Register of debit and credit with leaves numbered only on recto, in which are recorded the annual statements of accounts by the pro tempore stewards, partially endorsed by the marquisate governors; according to the original numbering leaves 180-181 are missing (jump in numbering?); among other items it includes the debit and credit notes of the community of syndic Bruni on the occasion of the French quarter started on January 9 and completed on April 1 1654 (leaves 103-109), a Memorial of the surveys of the "Guardate" of the illustrious community made by Mr Camillo Savigna of Castelvietro [sic] surveyor summoned on 28th June 1683 to know how many lots are n° 18 of four acres (biolche) each ... (185v.) and a Memorial of the surveys of the "Guardate" of the illustrious community made by Mr Camillo Savigna of Castelvietro [sic] surveyor summoned on 28th June 1683 to know how many lots are n° 18 with his terms.... Notes
Folder containing numerous quinternions concerning the contribution provided by the community of Vignola to military quarters from 1642 onwards, resulting from the grouping of several files on military quarters. It includes most of the quinternions listed in the Inventario generale under bundle 1 "Various requisitions for the billeting of foreign troops", namely numbers 1, 3-7, 21, 23 and 29, as well as two further registers listed respectively at n. 34 ("Poll-tax, acres of 1692") and under number 52/8 ("Ledger of accounts for the years 1642, 43 and 44 with the very Serene Chamber"). Presumably the various quinternions for the years 1642-44, 1655, 1657, 1664, not ascribable to the aforementioned bundle 1, come from file 48 of the Inventory, called "Military accounts" and containing "Draft accounts for the Florentine quarters 1642,43 and 1644; French and German until 1657 and 1664".
