Vignola Council Library offers the following services:
Services are accessible to anyone free of charge (except for photocopies and
bibliographic prints) and there are no formalities.
For home loan, a membership card is required which can be obtained free of
charge by presenting an identity document at the library counter.
Only library members are allowed access to Internet and must sign a special form.
Bibliographic information is also available by phone, during library opening hours.
Auriga on-line catalogue
The common data base and web linkup have superseded catalogues and cards.
Catalogues can now be consulted on-line through an interrogation program
offering advanced research options. It is no longer necessary to precisely know
the author or title of the book as Auriga also permits identification by word
parts. A cross-reference option permits viewing the works of an author, those
on a specific topic or those published in a specific period. Once the search has
terminated, a printout can be made of the information obtained. The Auriga
catalogue can be referred to in Internet by logging into the
CEDOC site.
Home lending
Books can be taken free of charge from the library on loan, and kept for 30
days. A maximum of 10 books can be taken on loan at any one time (no more than
three on the same subject or by the same author) and loans can be extended as
long as, meanwhile, no one else has asked for the same books. Loan extensions
can also be granted by phone during library opening hours.
Interlibrary lending
Through the interlibrary loan service, books from other libraries in the
province of Modena, linked to the participating state library network, can be
taken out on loan. To make use of this service, a form must be filled in. The
Library then:
- advises the person who has made the request whether the book is available
- returns the book after the loan period.
